How a solar pump system works

A solar pumping system uses panels to run a pump that moves water to your field, reservoir, or storage tank. The system can run on PV power alone, or with battery or grid support, depending on how much water you need and when you need it.

Sizing to your water demand

Sizing starts from three numbers: how much water you need per day, how high or far it must be moved (the head and the distance), and how many hours of sun you can rely on at your location. A 3 kW system and a 10 kW system both pump water — the difference is how fast and how far.

Where solar pumping pays off

Solar pumping is often most useful where the grid is unreliable or where pumping hours are long: remote fields, irrigation that runs through the day, and sites where running a diesel generator or paying for extra grid power dominates the operating cost. The panels and the pump last for years with basic maintenance.

Frequently asked questions

What do you need to size my pump?

Daily water volume in cubic meters, lift height plus distance, and your reliable sun hours — that sets pump and panel size.

Surface or submersible?

Surface pumps suit shallow sources; submersible pumps suit deep wells. We match the pump from 0.5HP to 15HP to your source and demand.

What about cloudy days and night?

Pumps run hardest in daylight; a storage tank acts as your battery — pump when the sun shines, irrigate any time.

Is it cheaper than diesel?

After setup, watering is free — most farms recover the cost in about two dry seasons of avoided diesel.
